Why functionality?”

Probably because of the everyday beauty of it:) That would be I guess my very first answer….

As being a young and beginner artist I find it important to let you all know what my message is with my work to the World.

I was born in 1981 in Hungary, where I started making ceramics at the age of twelve. My life as a ceramic artist ended shortly after,  when I went on to different paths in life, such as playing classical piano, singing jazz and then — for some unexplainable but understandable reason :) — ending up being a jurist.

I met the opportunity of making ceramics again at the age of 24,  in Denmark, while staying six months in a folk high school specialized on arts and crafts.

I  wish that each piece of my work ever held in your hands

brings some very special moments into your life!

My very best regards to all of You!

I am especially interested in the making of functional, everyday, honest, and at the same time exciting pieces. My intentions are not to fight the industry, - who can:) - but to recover the appreciation, individuality and distinctiveness of functional ceramics by adding a little twist of new look to the well known forms and shapes. Porcelain is the material I like to work the most with. I fast became obsessed by the transparency, pureness and softness of it, which gives me endless possibilities to develop different shapes and create a playful and distinctive look. Even though some of my work is slipcasted, my favourite way to work is throwing the wheel. I consider this method to give the most original look to the results, wich despite of being objects still are filled with spontaneous energy and the feeling of free motion.

My work expresses all that I find essential in life, and all the principles I follow while creating my pieces. They are all a reflection of me, a person living on the borders of to different worlds and being influenced by to different cultures. These unique porcelain pieces have their beauty — I believe:) -  in their distinctiveness and sensuality, in their own identity and special harmony, which qualities I am intended to keep on working with regarding my future work as well.

I am one of those on Earth who love to believe in fairytales...it’s not easy though, but still, not impossible:) As a designer I do have that dream that people will always need beauty, individuality and some sensuality in their life. So this is to all my fellow “Dreamers and Believers” : Please, keep on dreaming, so I can keep on believing! Hope You enjoy my work!

My passion for ceramics came surprisingly fast alive and that brought four years in Denmark into my life, that I have spent studying and experimenting on the field of making ceramics in Danmarks Designskole on Bornholm, from where I have graduated in 2009.
